5G Spectrum Auction Pakistan

The first round of the 5G spectrum auction Pakistan has successfully concluded, marking a significant step toward the rollout of next-generation mobile services in the country. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), all three major telecom companies actively participated in the bidding process, demonstrating strong interest in expanding their 5G networks.

2600 MHz Band Auction: High Participation and Competitive Bidding

In the 2600 MHz band, a total of 190 MHz spectrum was made available. This spectrum was divided into 19 lots, and a total of 30 bids were received, showing keen competition among the telecom operators.

DG PTA Amir Shahzad noted that bids for 11 additional lots in this band have also been received. As a result, PTA will determine a new price for the 2600 MHz band, reflecting the strong demand from telecom companies. This competitive bidding indicates that the operators are eager to secure spectrum to enhance their 5G services.

3500 MHz Band Auction: Substantial Interest from Operators

The 3500 MHz band also attracted significant attention. PTA offered 280 MHz spectrum, divided into 28 lots, and received bids for 20 lots. While slightly lower than the participation in the 2600 MHz band, the interest in the 3500 MHz band remains strong, as it is a critical frequency for high-speed 5G connectivity.

The bidding activity in both bands highlights the increasing readiness of Pakistan’s telecom operators to invest in advanced technology and meet the growing demand for faster internet and enhanced mobile services.
