The Punjab government has taken a significant step toward modern public transportation with the formal launch of the green electric bus service in Toba Tek Singh. The launch of the green electric bus service was inaugurated by Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan. The event was attended by prominent local and provincial leaders, including MPA Chaudhry Amjad Ali Javed, Colonel (retd) Sardar Ayub Khan Gadhi, and key figures from the Pakistan Muslim League (N) such as Chaudhry Asad-ur-Rehman, Khalid Waraich, Qadeer Awan, Uqba Waraich, Raheel Anwar Gujjar, and Syed Qutub Ali Shah.
Administrative officials also participated in the ceremony, including Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar, Deputy Commissioner Umar Mela, and DPO Akhlaqullah Tarar, along with Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and other concerned officers. A large number of citizens were present to witness the historic launch.
Features of the Green Electric Bus Service
In the first phase, 15 modern electric buses have been introduced to serve the residents of Toba Tek Singh. These buses are designed to provide a comfortable and safe travel experience while promoting environmental sustainability.
The buses are equipped with:
- CCTV cameras for enhanced security
- Mobile charging points for passenger convenience
- Air-conditioned interiors to ensure a comfortable ride
Provincial Minister Bilal Akbar Khan emphasized that the Punjab government’s priorities include providing quality public transport to all citizens, especially in smaller districts where such facilities were previously limited.

Affordable and Inclusive Fare Structure

The fare for general passengers has been set at just Rs 20, making it accessible to the common public. Routes and Expansion Plans
Initially, the electric buses will operate on routes connecting Toba Tek Singh, Kamalia, and Gojra. On the Kamalia route, services will continue until the ongoing road construction is completed. The government has also announced plans to extend the service to the city’s suburbs.
In the coming phases, an additional 1,500 electric buses will be introduced across the province. With the addition of more buses, the network of routes will expand further, benefiting a larger number of citizens.
