Punjab Climate Leadership Development Internship Program
The Punjab Government has recently launched an innovative initiative called the Punjab Climate Leadership Development Internship Program aimed at empowering youth to take an active role in environmental improvement. This program provides young individuals with hands-on experience, learning opportunities, and recognition while contributing to sustainable development in Punjab.
Internship Details and Benefits
The Climate Leadership Development Internship Program is designed to provide both practical experience and financial support. Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 60,000, making it an attractive opportunity for students who are passionate about the environment.
The internship lasts for three months, after which participants will receive an official certificate from the Punjab Government. Additionally, outstanding interns will have the chance to earn UNESCO certification, further enhancing their academic and professional credentials.
Interns will also gain access to the latest learning management systems, equipping them with modern tools and techniques for environmental leadership and policy implementation.

Eligibility and Reservations
The program encourages inclusive participation, with 50% of seats reserved for female students, ensuring gender equality in environmental leadership roles. Moreover, top-performing students from each district will get the opportunity to represent their district on automatic merit, promoting local participation and recognition.
Students can easily apply online through the official portal at epd.punjab.gov.pk/climateinternship. The last date to submit applications is March 29, giving youth a limited time to secure their place in this prestigious program.

Practical Experience
One of the most significant advantages of the Climate Leadership Development Internship Program is the opportunity to gain practical experience. Interns will work closely with the Environment Protection Authority and the Environmental Policy Unit, helping them understand policy-making, environmental management, and sustainable development practices firsthand.
This experience not only strengthens their resumes but also allows youth to make meaningful contributions to Punjab’s environmental goals.
Leadership Support and Statements
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a key advocate of this initiative, emphasised the role of youth in environmental protection, stating that every young person can play a full role in improving the environment. She also highlighted the positive impact of government efforts, mentioning that the graph of environmental pollution in Punjab, especially Lahore, is steadily declining, thanks to persistent work and divine blessings.
