Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program 2026 monthly stipend senior citizens Punjab

Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program

The Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program is a Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA) initiative for senior citizens — it is a Punjab government program, not part of BISP’s Benazir Kafalat. Under this program, assistance funds are released for needy and elderly persons so that they can support themselves better and not depend on others to meet their needs.

People often have many problems by the age of 60 or 65. They become physically and economically very weak, and due to a lack of resources, they face several problems. The Government of Punjab took an important step to provide relief to the elderly by launching the PSPA’s Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program.

It has enabled them to lead independent and dignified lives. The program provides a monthly stipend of Rs. 2,000 to eligible senior citizens — paid quarterly as Rs. 6,000 — with priority given to elderly women (one beneficiary per household). Through this program, assistance funds are provided to the elderly to protect them from economic risks and provide them with a better life. Senior citizens can receive their allowance regularly after registering. Launched in November 2020 with an initial fund of Rs. 2 billion, it is Punjab’s dedicated social pension for the elderly.

How To Register For the Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program

To get assistance, senior citizens register through PSPA / Social Welfare Department channels — not through 8171. For guidance call the Social Protection Helpline 1221.

Senior citizens can apply through their district Social Welfare office or the PSPA. Visiting with all required documents helps the application move forward without delay and keeps elderly applicants safe from overcrowding and repeated visits.

They have to carry a few necessary documents while going for registration. Which includes their national identity card, house electricity or gas bill, monthly income certificate, their illness report, etc.

Senior citizens are requested to collect the receipt from the representative after completing their registration. Only one family member is eligible for the Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program. Under this program, a monthly stipend of Rs. 2,000 (Rs. 6,000 per quarter) is provided to senior citizens.
