Free Medicine Home Delivery Start for Poor
Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif has started Free Medicine Home Delivery Start for the Poor in Punjab. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of free medicines, she said that I dream that no patient in Punjab should face problems due to the absence of medicines.
While starting the supply of free medicines, Maryam Nawaz Sharif passed through the narrow streets of the service quarter in Kachiabadi and provided free medicines to the homes of a few patients. She inquired about their well-being and prayed for their full recovery.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that patients with chronic diseases will not have to face any problems in getting medicines. She urged the administration to improve the quality of medicines and also inspected the drug test lab.
Launched in May 2024 by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the free medicine home delivery program is still running across Punjab as of October 2026 — it was last reviewed on 18 September 2026 by Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. From January 2025 to September 2026, 2 million medicine parcels were dispatched to patients’ doorsteps, and free medicines worth Rs 1.772 billion have been provided. More than 750,000 cancer and heart patients are registered under the program. Medicines are delivered through Pakistan Post, and families can track their parcels on a live online tracking dashboard. What began at 13 teaching hospitals has now expanded to rural and remote areas of the province. Who qualifies? The program covers registered patients of cancer, heart disease, TB (through the DOTS program), hepatitis, and insulin-dependent diabetes — it is not a blanket scheme for all chronic diseases. Patients are enrolled through the Patient Prescription Management (PPM) system at government teaching hospitals. There is no online self-registration portal. To register, visit your treating government hospital or the nearest NCD clinic, or call the Health Helpline 1033.
More Than 30 Field Hospitals Active Across Punjab
Maryam Nawaz Sharif established field hospitals across Punjab to provide the best health services to patients. More than 30 field hospitals are currently active — 33 are listed in the Punjab ADP booklet, which have recorded 1.51 million OPDs. During the 2025 Punjab floods, 100 field hospitals were deployed and treated 1.2 million people. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that patients will not face problems in accessing health services through field hospitals. The field hospitals are equipped with all the facilities patients need, including ultrasound, X-ray, laboratory tests, and other services.
These hospitals will have highly trained staff. Training will be provided for doctors and nurses to work in field hospitals. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said further that field hospitals would be established in nearly every district of Punjab. Patients should not be forced to travel long distances for better care. They should also not be faced with any barriers to accessing healthcare services.

Air Ambulance Project
The Punjab Air Ambulance service is now fully operational with 2 aircraft, providing hospital transport to patients in areas where ground transportation is difficult or impossible. So far, 270 critical patients have been airlifted to hospitals.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that an air ambulance is not only for rich people. Rather, people suffering from any emergency, irrespective of their caste, will be able to benefit from the air ambulance.
Air ambulances provide all the medical facilities required to give first aid to a patient during the flight. The service especially benefits people living in hilly and remote areas, where patients previously lost their lives for want of immediate medical help. CM Insulin Card (2025): In May 2025, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the CM Insulin Card — free insulin home delivery for children with type-1 diabetes. Phase 1 covered 1,500 children, with cold-chain delivery carried out via Pakistan Post. Parents can register their child at NCD clinics or Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics, or by calling helpline 1033.
