NADRA CNIC photo address update Pak ID app - update CNIC photo and permanent address from home

NADRA’s October 2026 CNIC photo and address update lets you change the photograph and permanent address on your CNIC right from home using the Pak ID mobile app, without standing in long queues at a registration centre. At the same time, fee payments at NADRA offices have gone almost completely cashless, and a free biometric data update service is available for eligible citizens. In this article, we explain every update in simple words so you know exactly what has changed and what to do next.

What’s New at NADRA in October 2026

October 2026 has brought three major changes for NADRA customers. First, NADRA announced on 11 October 2026 that citizens can now change the photograph and permanent address on their CNIC from home using the Pak ID mobile app (reported by ProPakistani, Daily Pakistan English, TechJuice, Kashmir English and Daily Qudrat). Second, fee collection at NADRA Registration Centres and Mega Centres is now 99% cashless, and passport offices have started accepting digital payments as well. Third, a free biometric data update service is available for people who need their fingerprints, photograph or iris record refreshed.

Change Your CNIC Photo and Permanent Address From Home — Who Can Use It

Until now, most CNIC updates meant a trip to a NADRA centre.

NADRA’s 11 October 2026 statement changed that for two specific fields: the holder’s photograph and the permanent address.

These can now be changed from home through the Pak ID mobile app, as confirmed by five news outlets.

The outlets include ProPakistani (12 Oct 2026) and Daily Pakistan English (13 Oct 2026).

Inside the app, open the Identity Card section and choose ‘Myself’ or ‘My Blood Relative’.

Then select the renewal or update option and submit your request for the photo or address change.

This helps citizens who live far from a NADRA centre or cannot wait in long queues.

Step-by-Step: Update Photo or Address in the Pak ID App

  1. Download or open the Pak ID mobile app and log in.
  2. Tap Identity Card, then choose ‘Myself’ or ‘My Blood Relative’.
  3. Select the renewal or update option for your CNIC.
  4. Choose whether to update your photograph or permanent address.
  5. Fill in the required details and submit your application.

Your request is processed under the normal CNIC modification rules.

Fee and Processing

A normal CNIC modification costs Rs. 400, per NADRA’s official fee page (checked 12 Oct 2026 via pakera.pk).

The home-based photo and address update follows the same standard fee and processing rules.

Digital IDs for the Whole Family, QR Verification and Hajj/Umrah Vaccination Check

The latest Pak ID app holds digital identity cards for you, your spouse and eligible children.

It also offers QR-code verification for the Child Registration Certificate (B-Form).

QR verification also works for CNIC-cancellation certificates, confirming a document is genuine.

Pilgrims can complete biometric verification for influenza and meningitis vaccinations for Hajj and Umrah.

These features were reported by the same five outlets between 11 and 13 October 2026.

99% Cashless Payments at NADRA Centres and Passport Offices

NADRA has digitised 99% of fee transactions at Registration Centres and Mega Centres.

This came from a Finance Division meeting on 13 October 2026, chaired by Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani.

The meeting was part of the Prime Minister’s Cashless Pakistan initiative.

Passport offices now accept digital payments through POS counters, ending bank-branch challan queues.

The meeting also noted merchants accepting digital payments have quadrupled in FY26.

Around 75% digital acceptance is now in place across centralised and self-accounting entities.

Note: digital payments do not remove in-person biometric or photo requirements.

The 99% figure also does not mean every office has stopped accepting cash.

Unchanged: the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) still costs Rs. 1,000 for one family type or Rs. 2,000 for both, with 1-day processing.

Free Biometric Data Update Service

NADRA announced a free biometric data update service around 30 September 2026 (Kashmir English).

Refresh your fingerprints, photograph and iris record at NADRA offices, Union Council counters and mobile vans.

It targets children aged 3 to 18 without a Form-B photo, and lifetime-validity card holders.

What Still Needs a Centre Visit

The home service covers only the photograph and the permanent address.

Name, date of birth and family-tree changes follow existing rules and may need a centre visit.

A visit may be needed for biometric verification or a new photograph (pakera.pk, 12 Oct 2026).

Read NADRA’s official instructions for date of birth corrections before you apply.
