PECTAA Class 5th and 8th Registration B-Form Number Now Mandatory for All Students

PECTAA Class 5th and 8th Registration

The Punjab Examination Commission (PECTAA) has issued an important update regarding the registration process for Class 5th and 8th students, making it compulsory for schools to enter the correct B-Form number of every student. This change directly affects the completion status of student records already submitted in the system.

What Has Changed in the Registration Process

Until recently, schools had the option to complete a student’s registration even if their B-Form number was unavailable, by simply entering the capital letter “N” as a placeholder in the system. This workaround is no longer accepted. Under the revised procedure, every student’s actual, verified B-Form number must be entered for the registration to be treated as complete.

Key points of the update:

  • B-Form number entry is now mandatory for all Class 5th and 8th students
  • The previous option of entering “N” instead of a B-Form number has been removed
  • Registrations submitted without a valid B-Form number will not be considered complete
  • The system has automatically flagged such existing records as “Unverified”

Status of Previously Submitted Records

A major consequence of this update is that any student record which was registered earlier using “N” in place of a B-Form number has now been marked as Unverified by the system. This means schools cannot assume that registrations completed in the past remain valid — each affected record needs to be revisited and corrected.

Schools, teachers, and registration staff are advised to review their student lists carefully to identify which entries fall into this Unverified category before assuming the registration process is finished.

Action Required from Schools

To avoid incomplete records, head teachers, class teachers, and registration in-charges are being asked to update the missing information without delay. The recommended steps include:

  • Reviewing the list of Class 5th and 8th students in the system
  • Identifying records currently marked as Unverified
  • Obtaining the correct B-Form number for each affected student
  • Entering the verified B-Form number into the PECTAA system promptly
  • Confirming that the record status changes to Verified after the update

Schools that delay this correction risk having their students’ registrations treated as incomplete, which could create complications closer to examination timelines.

Why This Update Matters

This move appears to be part of a broader effort to strengthen data accuracy and ensure that every student appearing in Class 5th and 8th examinations is properly documented with verified identity information. By removing the “N” placeholder option, the system aims to close a loophole that previously allowed incomplete records to pass as finished registrations.
