Punjab High Schools to Get Higher Secondary Status
The Punjab government’s vision is to make education universal in the province. In view of this need, the Punjab government has decided to upgrade hundreds of high schools across the province to the higher secondary level. This will enable students to continue their FA and FSC education in these schools.
Higher Secondary Status for Punjab High Schools
The Punjab Education Department has collected data from schools to identify institutions suitable for upgradation. Schools must have adequate space and a suitable building to qualify for higher secondary status.
Schools Required to Submit Complete Details
Heads of high schools have been asked to provide complete information about their institutions. The shortlisted schools will undergo a third-party inspection before receiving final approval.

795 Schools Show Interest in Upgradation
Punjab has around 6,000 high schools, with approximately 5,800 schools already submitting their data. Among them, 795 schools have expressed interest in becoming higher secondary schools, provided they have enough space to meet the requirements.
More Opportunities for FA and FSc Students
The upgradation will make it easier for students to continue their intermediate education without having to travel to another institution. It could also improve access to FA and FSc programs for students across Punjab.
