What Is the Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program?
The “Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program – Ghar Ho Tu Apna” (PM-AGP) is the federal government’s nationwide housing finance scheme, launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on 30 April 2026. In addition, it offers subsidised home loans to first-time homebuyers across all four provinces as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, with no regional restrictions.
Moreover, the program targets 50,000 houses in its first phase backed by Rs. 321 billion in financing, expanding to 500,000 houses over four years. Specifically, the government developed the scheme through consultations with the private sector, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Bank of Pakistan.
October 2026 Update: Easier Applications — 5 Documents, 15-Day Processing
In a review meeting on 15 October 2026, the Prime Minister was briefed that applying for the Apna Ghar Program has been made significantly easier: the required documents have been cut from 25 to just 5, and banks must now decide loan applications within a maximum of 15 working days. The Prime Minister also directed the State Bank of Pakistan and relevant ministries to consult stakeholders and submit final proposals by the end of October 2026 for housing, agriculture and small-business lending.
