TransPeshawar has made NADRA biometric verification and registration mandatory for all Zu cards used on the Peshawar BRT system, effective 15 October 2026. The announcement was reported through the APP news wire on 14 October 2026, quoting TransPeshawar directly.

Registration Deadline: 31 December 2026

All Zu card holders must complete biometric verification and registration by 31 December 2026. Cards that are not registered by the deadline will be blocked from 1 January 2027 and will no longer be valid for travel on the BRT system.

Who Must Register

The requirement applies to all Zu cards used on the Zu Peshawar BRT network. No separate process has been announced for student, senior citizen, or concession cards — every card falls under the same rule.

How to Register Your Zu Card

Registration is done at the ticket counters of BRT stations during station operating hours. You do not need to visit a NADRA office — station staff carry out the verification. The steps for adults:

  • Visit the ticket counter at any BRT station during operating hours
  • Bring your original CNIC and your Zu card
  • Staff will record your information and complete biometric verification
  • Pay the registration fee of Rs 10 per card

Registration for Children Under 18

Two routes are available for minors:

  • B-Form route: the child’s original B-Form and Zu card, with the child present for biometric verification
  • Parent or guardian route: the parent or guardian’s original CNIC and the child’s Zu card, with the parent or guardian present for biometric verification

Foreign Passengers

Foreign passengers are exempt from card registration. They can continue to travel using the Zu app or a single-journey ticket.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is Rs 10 per Zu card, payable at the station counter.

Why Biometric Verification Is Being Introduced

According to TransPeshawar CEO Dr Syed Murtaza Asghar Bukhari, the move is meant to strengthen system security through passenger identity verification, making travel safer, smoother, and more organised. He urged passengers to register early to avoid service disruption and last-day congestion at counters. The BRT network itself keeps expanding — BRT extension to Jamrud and Bara.
