Chief Minister Stroke Program Punjab – Free TNK Treatment for Stroke Patients

Chief Minister Stroke Program Punjab

The Chief Minister Stroke Program Punjab, launched by the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Government of Punjab, is giving stroke patients across the province a real chance at survival and recovery. At the heart of this initiative is the TNK injection, worth Rs. 3 lakh, which is being provided completely free of cost to eligible patients at government hospitals.

Doctors involved in the program stress one thing above all: time matters. If a stroke patient receives the TNK injection within 4.5 hours of the first symptoms, their chances of full recovery rise significantly. That’s why recognising the signs early can make the difference between life and permanent disability.

To help people identify a stroke quickly, health officials recommend the F.A.S.T. rule:

  • F – Face: One side of the face suddenly droops.
  • A – Arms: The patient struggles to lift one or both arms.
  • S – Speech: Words come out slurred or unclear.
  • T – Time: Don’t wait — call 1122 immediately.

Under this program, 40 stroke centres have been set up in major hospitals across Punjab, including Punjab Institute of Neurosciences Lahore, Mayo Hospital, Services Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Nishtar Hospital Multan, Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, and several District Headquarters Hospitals covering cities from Sialkot to Bhakkar.

This program reflects a simple but powerful idea that timely treatment, free of cost, is a form of service to humanity. Knowing the FAST signs and acting fast can genuinely save a life.
