The government of Pakistan runs the Prime Minister’s free laptop scheme through the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Eligibility Criteria For Free Laptop Scheme
In Phase V, the following students were eligible for the free laptop scheme.
- Students enrolled in HEC-recognized public sector universities or degree-awarding institutes, studying in PhD, MS/MPhil (18-year), or 4-year/5-year Bachelor’s programs.
- In addition, first-year students needed at least 60% marks in intermediate, while other students needed a 2.80 CGPA or 70% marks.
- Moreover, applicants had to be Pakistani citizens or AJK nationals who had never received a laptop under any federal or provincial scheme.

Phase IV and Phase V Distribution Status

Students Not Eligible For The Free Laptop Scheme
Officials declared some students ineligible for the scheme for the following reasons.
- Students of private universities and affiliated colleges were not eligible.
- Anyone who had already received a laptop under any federal or provincial scheme was not eligible.
- Those enrolled in weekend or part-time programs were not eligible.
- Foreign nationals, except AJK nationals, were not eligible.
- Students who had graduated before the laptop distribution were not eligible.
